We’re enormously grateful to a Dudley-based builders merchant for some jumbo sacks to help keep our site spick and span.
The Dudley branch of Selco Builders Warehouse, based on the Coneygree Industrial Estate on Coneygree Road, donated the giant sacks to make it easier for us to gather up fallen leaves.
DZG Assistant Curator Jay Haywood, pictured with deputy manager of Selco Dudley Joby Whatling, said: “This is a fantastic gesture and has been hugely helpful to us as a team.
“It’s always a challenge in autumn and winter for keepers and our gardening team to keep on top of the volume of leaves falling onto walkways, gardens and into enclosures.
“The Selco sacks have speeded up the process of removing leaves in bulk from the entire site.”
Craig Dickinson, branch manager of Selco Dudley, said: “When we heard about the predicament Dudley Zoo had with their leaves, we had no hesitation in helping out straight away.
“Helping out local communities is a key part of what we are all about and hopefully this donation will prove beneficial to everyone.”
