Baby panda settling in!

A baby giant panda is settling into his new home at DZG, much to the delight of keepers!

The black and white babe has been transferred to a temporary enclosure in the Discovery Centre where staff can keep a close eye on the latest addition to the collection.   But all’s not what it seems – the panda is a long-lost cuddly toy, discovered this morning by workmen among the wall beams of an on-site Victorian cottage currently undergoing renovation to form a Media and Communications suite!   Press Officer, Rachel Hickman, explained: “The panda was found in a little recess in one of the former bedrooms when workmen were stripping out the plaster.

“There was much excitement across site when we heard we had a panda, but when we realised it’s April 1 everyone just laughed!”
