Arise, Prince Mitchell!

Mitchell French had a right royal surprise for his tenth birthday, thanks to his grandfather Neil Brown’s generosity.

dzg_prince_mitchell_5web_0Neil arranged for the Sedgley schoolboy to be crowned Prince of Dudley Castle during a special coronation ceremony which also saw him take part in a personal falconry experience followed by a tour of the castle grounds and a Horrible History session in the Undercroft – the former medieval chapel – before wandering around the zoological gardens to meet his loyal subjects.

Mitchell, a pupil at Alder Coppice School, said: “It was a great day, my favourite part was being crowned Prince Mitchell in the courtyard and taking the special oath in front of lots of people and I also liked wearing the cloak and crown.”

The ceremony was carried out by DZG Presenter, Langan Turner – pictured with Mitchell – who said: “Prince Mitchell was very serious about the oath and promised to be kind to his subjects including all animals, be they feathery, furry, slimy or scaly – excellent traits for a young prince.”
