Apprentice Ellis is back!

Ellis Robinson is on course for a qualification in animal care after joining DZG for a second apprenticeship.

The 19-year-old from Lower Gornal, pictured above, was with us last year and successfully completed an NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service.

And we’re delighted to have Ellis back for another 12 months to undertake her animal care qualification through training provider KEITS.

Ellis has joined our Ungulates Section and works mostly with our reindeer as well as otters, Barbary sheep and tapirs.

She said: “I’d love to be a zoo keeper full time and am so glad to be back at Dudley Zoo.

“I had a month off between the two courses but it’s great to be caring for the animals as it’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”

Zoo Manager Matt Lewis said: “Ellis did very well in her first apprenticeship with us and the new course gives her chance to get an animal care qualification.”
