Animal antics for Astons!

A stepbrother and sister enjoyed an exciting day together when they became zoo keepers here at DZG.

Emily and Kian Aston, from Stoke, took part in a Be A Little Zoo Keeper experience, when they got to meet the zoo’s friendly Brazilian tapir family and feed some of the Humboldt penguins in the largest parent-reared colony in the UK, as well as helping muck out the animals down on the farm.

Kian’s mum, Rebecca, said: “They both loved their day. They really enjoyed feeding the penguins and thought it was amazing to go in with the tapirs.

“Kian wants to work in conservation when he is older, so when I spotted a poster for children’s keeper days on a visit to the zoo last year, I thought it would be a good idea for a Christmas present for them both.”
