Big cat fan, Andrew Bisgrove, had a grrr-eat time at DZG when he became a keeper for the day.
Andrew was surprised with the experience by girlfriend, Liz Routhorn, and the couple travelled from London to take part in the day together.
Liz said: “I chose DZG because it was the best value zoo keeper day around and I knew Andrew would love the big cats and primates section, but it all looked great. I also liked the idea that I could join in as well at not much extra cost.”
During the day Andrew and Liz worked alongside DZG staff, meeting and feeding some of the site’s 200 species, including giraffes, tigers, lemurs and penguins.
Liz added: “There were so many highlights, I loved meeting the tapirs, as I loved their noses, but the best bit for me was seeing how excited Andrew was to feed the big cats and the chimpanzees.
“I was also surprised to discover we had keepers to ourselves all day, as I imagined we would be in a group. Their love and knowledge of their animals was wonderful for us to see.”
