Brazilian tapir, Chico, cooled down in the summer heat with some homemade tasty ice lollies.
Trainee Keeper, Josh Luxton, froze some of the mammal’s favourite fruit for the perfect tapir friendly seasonal treat.
Josh said: “I added apple, carrot, banana and blueberries to a plastic tub, which I filled with water.
“Once it was frozen, I took it outside and he was soon over to investigate and quickly got stuck in licking the block to get to the food inside.
“As it was quite big, it also took a while to melt, so it kept him busy for quite a while and the capybara, who share the South American paddock with him, didn’t get a look or a lick in!”
