Eighteen year-old Katherine Lovejoy had an awe-inspiring time at DZG when she worked alongside keepers for the day.
The teenager was treated to the experience by her parents for her birthday and was amazed at how close she could get to some of the world’s rarest and most dangerous animals.
Katherine, from Church Stretton, said: “The diversity of the animals that I was able to see was really good and every one of the zoo keepers that I worked with were enthusiastic and informative and really added to the experience.”
During her day Katherine fed giraffes, lemurs and chimps and got close to big cats.
“My favourite parts were feeding and getting to stroke Peter the penguin; being able to feed the tigers, which left me in awe and being pounced on in seconds by the lemurs” added Katherine.
“Overall I had a great time and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is passionate about animals. Thank you so much DZG for the experience!”
