An animal lover from Banbury had an 18th birthday present to remember, when she became a DZG keeper for the day.
Natasha Vinall is currently studying an extended level three diploma in animal welfare and management, so her mum, Justine, knew this experience would be the perfect gift after spotting an advert following a visit to the zoo a few years back.
Natasha said: “I really enjoyed my day. I have been interested in zoo work, conservation and breeding programmes in zoos for a while and am currently considering pursuing zoo keeping as a career.
The experience really helped me to understand the depths of the job and get first hand experience of the important roles of the keepers. The staff were so friendly and made me feel very welcome and it was great getting to spend time with them and ask lots of questions.
“I really enjoyed getting so hands on with the wide range of animals, but my favourite part was working with the tigers; being able to get so close and having the chance to feed them was absolutely amazing!
