Ungulates staff received a belated Christmas gift, which will be a huge help in their day-to-day work.

The keepers were sent a pair of extendable tree pruners from zoo members, Clive and Christine Waldron, through the Amazon wish list, with the message We hope this helps with your daily work”.
Section Leader, Jay Haywood, said: “The pruners will make such a difference to us, particularly in the summer months, as they will allow us to get the freshest branches at the top of the trees to give many of the animals on our section, especially the giraffes, tapirs and Barbary sheep.
“Tools are so useful to every section of the zoo, so we want to say a huge thank you to Clive and Christine for thinking of us. They will be very well used!”
DZG launched the online list six months ago, allowing supporters to purchase items, specifically chosen by our keepers to benefit our animals, which are then delivered directly to us.
Since launching we’ve received tools, kettles, sacks, blenders, popcorn makers, cardboard tubes, tissue paper and colourful plastic play balls, which have all been put to great use across the animal sections throughout the 40-acre site.
