9 days to go. . .

Snow leopard cub, Makalu, is gearing up for his first Christmas and has his paws crossed for wintry weather!

Mum, Nanga and dad, Margaash have told their eight-month-old cub all about snow and how their thick coats and wide fur-covered paws are perfectly adapted for snowy playtimes!

Their long, heavy fur-lined tails also acts as a scarf when it gets really cold, which they wrap around themselves to help protect their faces – and particularly their noses – when they sleep.

With just nine days left to wait until Christmas, Makalu can’t wait for the big day and has already asked keepers to pass on his snow plea to Santa, who is still in his Winter Wonderland Castle Grotto, to hopefully make his wish come true!
