It’s the last few hours of 2017 and DZG’s 80th anniversary year.
A huge Thank You to everyone who has supported us throughout the last 12 months and helped us celebrate the zoo’s past, present and future.
Zoo Director Derek Grove, said: “DZG has seen so many changes over the last eight decades and we hope you’ve enjoyed glimpsing back at the zoo’s history throughout the year.
“We’ve had a busy year of redevelopments as we brought older enclosures up to date, which allowed our visitors to get even closer to the world’s rarest animals.”
This year we’ve completed a £25,000 yellow-breasted capuchin enclosure, a £25,000 indoor extension to the Carpathian lynx exhibit and rebuilt a £90,000 farm barn and the most recent £100,000 snow leopard extension is almost complete.
Derek added: “We plan to continue expanding and improving the facilities for the animals and our visitors, with lots of exciting projects and events in the pipeline for next year and we hope we can continue inspiring generations for the next 80 years as we strive to create a better future for the world’s wildlife by funding conservation schemes at home and abroad.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has visited and supported us during 2017 and we look forward to sharing another successful year ahead together.”
