21 days to go. . .

There was plenty of monkeying around on Lower Primates this week when keepers produced some festive enrichment.

Staff stuffed a Christmas stocking with mealworms and seeds, which they mixed with straw and then hung it up in Monkey Tails and watched as the five Squirrel monkeys came to investigate.

Trainee Keeper, Harley Hunt, said: “We regularly give the animals different enrichment activities throughout the year, including puzzle feeders to encourage natural foraging behaviour.

“But as it’s nearly Christmas, in 21 days time, we decided to use a festive stocking with the squirrel monkeys, which we’ve never used before and see how they’d react and as you’ll see in the video, they soon delved in!”
