Tigers in the frame

Sumatran tigers, Daseep and Joao, are enjoying their new climbing frame.

Keepers have spent the last few weeks after hours replacing the Tecton enclosure’s wooden frame by demolishing the old play equipment, which had been well used by the big cats over the years and replacing it a new larger frame.

Senior Keeper Sam Grove, said: “We’ve slightly changed the previous design and used a different shaped wood, with new shaped platforms and a wobbly bridge linking the two sides.

“Daseep especially seems to appreciate the new-look as she was using it straight away, but she does like to keep an eye on the keepers, wherever they are!”

The extra addition of heavy duty metal rings will also allow staff to hang enrichment from the frame for the pair.
