Nicola flies through bird course

DZG’s Nicola Wright, is celebrating after flying through a course about managing birds of prey.

Section Leader Nicola, took part in the day long Managing Raptors for Health and Longevity at the International Centre for Birds of Prey in Gloucestershire.

Led by a specialist in avian medicine, the BIAZA credited training course covered housing, day-to-day care, first aid and common diseases in raptors.

Nicola, pictured above with common buzzard, Maverick, said: “It was a really useful day, having recently returned to the bird section after working with primates for many years, it was a great opportunity to learn more about working with raptors.”

See our raptors during the daily 12pm birds of prey show in the castle courtyard.
Here at DZG we have two Harris hawks, a common buzzard, a burrowing owl, a red-footed falcon, one barn owl and a Great horned owl.
