Peacocks' winter perch

Wednesday, 23 January 2013

Our free-roaming Indian blue peafowl are certainly not fond of winter weather.

In a bid to avoid cold and wet feet they've taken to perching high on fences, huddling in doorways and heading for their favourite spot – the roof of the Queen Mary restaurant, which is usually toasty and warm from the heating inside.

But elsewhere across site the big freeze fans are out in full force; Humboldt penguins play out for most of the day, our trio of red pandas can be spotted darting up trees and dashing around in the snow and even Asiatic lioness Asha gave in to her big cat curiosity and ventured into the paddock to check out the white stuff.
