If you’re looking for a unique Christmas gift for an animal lover, then why not consider a DZG Keeper for a Day and help us raise funds for our new orangutan enclosure.
All purchases of adult and little zoo keeper experiences are going towards our £800,000 fundraising appeal to build a new outdoor enclosure for our four Bornean great apes, Benji, Jorong, Jazz and Sprout, which we’re aiming to start work on within three years.
The behind the scenes day allows participants to shadow their own personal keeper and gain access to all our animal sections, including big cats, primates, ungulates and birds.
Visitors will be preparing food and enrichment as well as feeding, cleaning and getting up close to a wide variety of exotic species.
There’s also complimentary lunch for adult participants too.
Marketing Manager, Andrea Hales, said: “Visitors travel from all over the country and even overseas to take part in our keeper experiences and we always get great feedback.
“As part of the adult keeper day, participants will meet our orangutans and hear all about our fundraising appeal, which they’ll be contributing to just by taking part in the day.”
Little Zoo Keeper experiences are suitable for children aged eight to 13 and during the half day event participants help muck out our farm animals, feed our penguins and meerkats, meet a variety of critters in the Discovery Centre and tickle our tapirs!
