Sanctuary for all time

Millions of people have visited Dudley Zoological Gardens since its opening in May 1937.

They remember the animals, the castle and quirky buildings but know little of the vital behind-the-scenes conservation programmes that put DZG on the world stage.

Extraordinary work done by dedicated staff at a pace determined by life sometimes so fragile that it teeters on the very edge of extinction. It is work of which we are justifiably proud.

The much-loved family attraction, in the heart of the West Midlands, that has featured in photo albums across the decades is today a sanctuary for some of the most endangered species on Planet Earth.

The years bring change, but DZG's commitment remains constant, its endeavours endless... making time for the world's rarest animals.
