Chimps’ post-festive boost

Surplus fresh cranberries provided a winter boost for our seven chimpanzee girls.

Lower Primate keepers fed the leftover festive fruit to the chimps, which they lapped up!

Keeper Jade Reddall, pictured, said: “Cranberries are known as being a superfood and are packed full of several vitamins and minerals and as chimpanzees and humans share the majority of their DNA, the berries have as much benefit to them as they would to us.”

As well as hand feeding the fruit to the girls, keepers also scattered them throughout the enclosure, which kept the chimps entertained for ages as they hunted out the tiny berries!
