Celebrating mums

We’ve had a timely birth just ahead of Mother’s Day as ring-tailed lemur, Phoebe, delivered her 12th baby!

The busy 15 year-old mum gave birth to her latest offspring in Lemur Wood on Wednesday night and was out and about in the one-acre walkthrough exhibit the next morning with her newborn.

Curator Richard Brown, said: “Phoebe is a very experienced mum and she and baby are doing really well.

“Within hours of the birth she was out in the wood and delighting visitors who were able to get a close look of our latest zoo arrival.”

The baby, whose dad is Frank, will stay attached to mum for the next few weeks and we’ll have to wait a while to find out if it’s a boy or girl.

But with less than a week to go until Mother’s Day, why not let DZG help make your mum’s day extra special…
