We’re helping Birmingham Royal Ballet bring the magic of ballet to life by displaying interactive animal posters around the 40-acre zoo site.
The posters, promoting the company’s forthcoming show ‘Still Life’ at the Penguin Café, allows DZG visitors to bring dancing animals to life by using their smartphones.
Visitors simply need to download the Zappar app from the iOS or Google Play stores and hold your device over the poster and using augmented reality the animals – a monkey, zebra, penguin or rat – begin dancing.
There’s also the chance to move the dancer into your real surroundings by using the camera button, so you can take a selfie with them around the zoo!
Plus, visitors can learn interesting facts about the original animal that inspired the choreography.
The posters are located around the zoo site, including in the Safari Shop, by the red panda enclosure and in Lemur Wood.
The ballet, about a colourful host of endangered animals who seek shelter from a storm at the Penguin Café, runs at Birmingham Hippodrome between Wednesday 27 – Saturday 30 September.
