A stowaway in a supply of sprats provided a tasty treat for our Asiatic short-clawed otters.
Keepers discovered a large frozen crab in amongst our normal delivery of fish from Poole, which they defrosted and gave to our group of five otters.
Trainee Keeper, Josh Luxton, said: “Otters would naturally feed on crabs and other crustaceans in the wild, so we knew ours would love the unexpected delivery.
“I broke the legs and claws off the body, which I left whole, so they could all share the pieces out and they soon got to work smashing them open.
“They certainly looked like they enjoyed it as they were wolfing down the fleshy meat inside.”
